第二日淸早晨我到了我家的門口了。瓦楞上許多枯草的斷莖當風抖着，正在說明這老屋難免易主的原因。幾房的本家大約已經搬走了，所以很寂靜。我到了自家的房外，我的母親早已迎着出來了，接着便飛出了八歲的姪兒宏兒。

Early the next morning, I arrived at the door of my house. Many broken stalks of withered grass on the roof ridges trembled in the wind, clearly explaining why this old house could not escape changing owners. Most of the relatives from the various branches had apparently already moved away, so the place was very quiet. When I reached the outside of my own house, my mother had already come out to greet me, followed by my eight-year-old nephew, Hong'er, who came running out.
